ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

So how good is Assistant Coach Wayne O'Sullivan as a stats man, as a tactical advisor to Mossy? I would have thought that a coach would have known all the information that the excellent article linked to above describes. Or is there a greater master plan in action? All these questions and more may be answered in the January transfer window (I hope  ).

No surprises but interesting to see some figures. I love that bit "score more than once every 765 minutes"!
I guess the main point is that we have NEITHER the players NOR the tactics to be competitive.
Just looking at that list of departed players breaks your heart.

a very interesting read....as for a Mossosophy....I dont think Phil actually has one...does he?

It isn't bus parking Chelsea/WSW style, it is controlling possession a la Pep's Barcelona. But without the technically gifted players to do it effectively like Adelaide have. The philosophy and players don't match. Bosnar, Monty, they are good at the long ball, Fitz, Duke, Simon, are counter attacking players. Outside of Hutch, Trifiro is our best player because he seems to be the only one playing in the role he is meant to. Caceres is being told to play a certain way that isn't the best for his skill set or development. Joshy and Storm aren't making the runs down the wing and linking up with wingers a la Pedj and Bernie combo that was so explosive when we were winning trophies. We play a 4-5-1, push Duke to the wing, then don't even effectively use the wing.

Whatever, who cares, we suck, it sucks.

Top article from Leopoldmethod as always.

Personally I'm over possession, tiki taka football.
If we are going to lose I'd prefer to watch hell for leather attacking rather than a pass it around the back snooze fest.
We'd likely win more games too.

maybe that's what we need, what's the opposite of a red card? a blue card? get an extra player on the pitch. stay with a green card, two greens is an automatic blue

Why stop at 12?

Duke| Simon
Vernes |Trifiro| Fitzgerald
Caceres | Montgomery
Neil | Rose | Poscoliero | Roux
Reddy | Nash | Pearce

Three goalkeepers should make our defence competitive.

;)

No idea what you're talking about, but shouldn't it be a yellow and blue make a green? :innocent:

Great article. Certainly the way I see it. And I've maintained since the start that I didn't think we had the quality in the squad to play how Moss wants to play. Weemac is probably the best attacking midfielder in the league, Bernie added pace and could beat several men, the class of Sterj, the finishing of McBreen, a promising but under under done 10 in Caceres vs a Perez a Musti or a Tommy...

We need some serious recruiting and a change of approach.
