ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

with only one of our strikers scoring goals atm, hence "matty", i recon they should give Panni a go........ ???

even though he is scoring plenty of goals for the youth, he is a midfielder NOT a striker, the mids have been doing their job thus far, sure i'd want to see panni get a run but we cant rush him

Put kwassie in youth and he will score a few goals, doesn't mean it is the best option up front.

Panni needs time to gain fitness and develop, better to save him for injury cover for our mids later in the year than screw his debut out of position. Will be the eventual replacement for some of our international mids but he needs time.

Would be better for us if one of our other Strikers found some form than trying a kid out of position. In the mean time if our midfield + defence + matty keep on scoring we will do ok

It's not possible to just put them in to the first team. They need to be on contract for injury cover or otherwise.

name me an a-league team that has won a premiership or championship by blooding youngsters?

they have all been by experienced teams and clubs that have blooded youngsters (such as brisbane) has seen them lost to representative duties, lost to overseas clubs, or because of the salary cap pinched by other a-league clubs

Although it is more of a farce tbh...but it counts as a championship?
Although tbh your comment was about blooding youngsters not stealing them :p

I'd rather leave his development in the hands of the people best qualified to do so (LM and the other coaches).

To debut a kid out of position is a disaster.

What is it about "he is a defensive midfielder/playmaker" that people (who have possibly never seen him play) dont get?

So people would like to take him from a deep lying midfield position(where he is clearly comfortable, and with that comes the goals), to play him upfront in a stronger competition.. what part of that actually makes sense?

Not me, I see him as potentially being able to do Weemacs job in cover, or... as Weemac probably take the most shots for us each week he plays - with last week the exception - if we're going to try anyone up fornt out of usual position it should be him imo.

But blooding Panni for 10 mins in his actual role is something else altogether.

I'm a fan of this new youth squad and Walmsley appears to be a handy coach and I'll bet when he thinks a player is ready to blood then it will happen.
Think back to V2 when both Boogs and Porter were given time and their blunders then cost goals, and their delelopment is only really showing now 3 yrs later. Was that early exposure detrimental to their progression at that time?

I think the view on Boogs generally was that he was ready from season 1, but because of osteitis pubis and chronic fatigue (I think?) he really didn't get a good run until season 3.
