ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Pan Asian Tournament

I can remember reading last year when David Beckham was out here reading about the Pan Asian tournament to be played annually in Hawaii.

As I recall the top two sides from Australia, Japan, China & Korea would play four sides from the US one of which had to be LA Galaxy. It was to held when it did not clash with the ACL and in time would grow to include Mexico and perhaps Argentina.

The Choppers played in it last year because of a timing problem with the ACL.

Does any know if it is still on and are we or the Scum or both going to it.

it's called the Pan Pacific Tournament (as it spans the Pacific, not Asia), and there doesn't seem to be a lot of info about it for 2009.

I forget how the qualification system worked, but I think because of the timing of it (overlapping with or very close to our finals series) it was given to the first team to be eliminated from the finals.

Also it was only a quick 3-day(-ish?) tournament, so maybe the FFA consider ACL the most sought-after tournament spots, perhaps the other finalist gets a world 7s spot and this tournament is considered the 4th prize?

The qualification process went something along the lines of...

FFA: Hey, we have this great tournament invitation. We need to choose a representive of the best football in the League, but it will clash with the finals series. Who should we send?
Queensland: We finished Third, and were just eliminated from the finals. I think we should probably go.
Sydney: WE HAEV MONEYS AND R DA BIGGEZT KLUB IN DA LANDD.
Lowy: Yeah, let's send Sydney because I have no conflict of interest whatsoever
Sydney: FANKS UNKEL FWANK.

The end.

It was a crappy tournament anyway :)

The SCC probably took millions of fans just to check that no one sang any song that they have ever even dreamed of

I hear the SCC create a more original atmosphere than a load of wig wearing, thunder stick clapping muppets.

Just the word on the streets ya'all.

I wouldn't say 'original', but you are correct
