Palmer wants State of Origin.

Do you think an origin series is a good idea for Australian football?

I am over this guy and his seperation from where football needs to be in this country. How in Gods name could a series like this work if your playing rosters are made up from guys from all over the world some of which are your best talent? Look at Craig fosters article in todays Herald.

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/football/colourblind-code-shades-the-others-for-diversity-20101002-161yp.html

We are a diverse league with much more going for it than state vs state showdowns. Its this limited thinking that is holding Gold Coast back. He should be thinking about things like Sydneys festival of football. The glitter strip have already showed they will get out to see big name teams when 10,000 turned out to see Fulham, why not have a pre-season such as Sydney had to spark interest.

Why not draw on the allure of a world wide game to bring people to your stadium rather than spruik another codes 2 state success story as a "new idea".

Seriously Clive, thanks for the millions but keep your ideas to yourself.

But, enough of the rant. What do you guys think?

stupid concept
the reason it works in RL is cos the best talent in that sport is concentrated in two states of one country - its the pinnacle of the sport, which just proves how insignificant egg ball is

it wont work in football, most clubs have several foreigners on the books often the best players, also i cant see football punters going mad over it either... FFA cup is the way forward, get those old NSL fans back and give teams like Sydney Olympic and Melbourne Knights something more meaningul to be part of, hopefully bridging the divide between old soccer and new football in the process.

FFA cup is the next step.
if they were to something in that sort of vein of a series or one off game they could do a all stars game of a-league foreigners vs a-league Australians game, I think that would be the only thing that would work

agree with that

i know its very american but an Australian XI vs AllStars XI A-League match would be awesome, but with Perez, Flores, Hernandes running the show i wouldnt give much chance to the aussies :D

Include dutchy fowler and broich it could interesting. Only position that could be hard to find for a foreigner is a keeper as no foreign keepers in the a-league, unless you count the kiwis as foreign

I would love to see a a-league all stars vs a-league foreign all stars series.

Or a-league roos vs socceroos at seasons end.

Would be interesting to watch. 3 game series that doubles as a-league roos training camps through the year, have it coached by vidmar.
