ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

NYL games prior to main game??

Done a search but came up with nothing...

Was wondering why they've scrapped the few NYL games before the main game this season at BT?? I know last season they only had a few, but I'd love nothing more than going to a whole afternoon of football watching the up & coming young guns then the main game.

My guess is they don't want to ruin the pitch... but seriously... the turf thats on there at the moment is rediculous the way it tears up so easily. One would have thought they would've chosen a more durable tougher turf species when they re-turfed last season!!

Costs a bomb to have the stadium open for an additional 2 hours too.

Really?? I'm not that knowledgable in expenses for the CCM on game day, but wouldn't have thought it would be massive amounts more seeing as though the stadium is already being used that day. If they were to use it specifically for NYL then I would definitely agree that it wouldn't be viable at all.

an extra 2 hours' wages for security, hospitality, ticketing and cleaning staff, and very little return - not many people are going to go in, not many people are buying things, nobody has bought an extra ticket...

I did an event management review of a Mariners' game a few years ago as part of a Uni assignment and the average match day budget for the club runs close to the six-figure mark.

It is very expensive to run a football match.

I think it is an extra four hours. Around 3.5k to 5k extra.
The FFA requires that you be off the ground 1 hour prior to KO.

H.Crap

I had no idea it was that expensive. It gives you a new perspective on what it takes to keep a club going.

If I recall correctly (and correct me if I'm wrong) hiring a video screen cost the club $40K per game. Thank heavens that we own our video screen nowadays.

There are lots of expenses that people don't realise such as on field signage, police for traffic management, catering etc.
