ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Muscat Off Contract

Hopefully we are one of the 4 clubs expected to be vying for him -  http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,25502158-5000940,00.html

No way in hell he won't re-sign with the Victory - he's already an assistant coach down there and grooming himself to take over once Merrick leaves.  Also quite a bigwig in the local academy's around Melbourne and such.

At the minute I would say we will be looking for a coach before they will.  He is probably in the same position as Ferguson was here may need to look elsewhere for the top job.

Just the type of c**t we need at the back imo.

And a proper captain!

I'll have to change my most hated players thingo on facebook if we sign him!

While he's a c**t and arguably we need one of those, he's also getting older and slower and more prone to being found out. Because of his name and reputation, we'd more likely be paying a fair whack for him too. I'm not sure I'd go there.

I am mixed on whether the Mariners should think of getting Muscat.

On the one hand we have the absolute bastard on the pitch who has had his fair share of nasty incidents (reported or not) during a game against the Mariners, and on the other, there is the Mariners who has a dire need for said bastard in their backline.

Also into the mix is the fact Muscat is heading to retirement as a player very soon & presently is involved in assistant caching. As possibly happened with Ferguson, he may be tired of being told that soon he can take more responsibility in that area by Merrick and his management. I'd suspect that Merrick might be too wary to have Muscat too closely involved in coaching out of fear of having a bad season and Merrick preparing a ready successor! A decent offer from another club may prick some impatience in Muscat and he may take an offer.

Also I have heard that Muscat is quite respected amongst players both in his club and outside. If that is the case, then he'd be able to general the players both on and off the pitch, and make them very wary of straying from instructions during a game.

So, if the club thinks he may fit in, I am warily suggesting he's perhaps what is needed to strengthen up the backline AND put pressure on Lawrie and Tobin to improve their managing skills (and put Walmsley on notice too with the NYL team).

it's the OTHER Muscat who's Maltese.......Kevin is an ex socceroo.  You are thinking of Manny Muscat - Wellington Phoenix.

Kevin has Maltese heritage i.e Muscat.
Therefore claimed as Maltese.

With Robert Palmer as the most famous person to come from the beautiful island, we will claim whoever we can.
