ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Move Canberra Game too Western Sydney

If we must have another home game away, would it not be better too have it in Western Sydney as they will be the 12th team, not Canberra..... thoughts.

It would be better for the fans to play them at bluetongue, it is probably financially better to play the games in Canberra. Western Sydney has just under two years to promote the new team they can do it themselves, we are not the team to start promoting every new team. we may as well move a home game to Melbourne to promote hearts the way you are talking

Honestly, I don't think Western Sydney is going to need much promotion...

Question...will this cause the Cove to shrink significantly?

i dont think so. i live in the hills district in sydney, theres not a massive amount of people (that i know of) that go in to games regularly, as its a long way and pretty bad traffic to get through to a sydney fc game (half the reason i chose to support mariners, the trip up to gosford is easier)

western sydney would get its own bunch of die-hards. but it would be a good loyalty test of the covies that live out this way already

yea its weird here in the hills. i work at a woolies in our area and quite a few people come into the store wearing sfc gear but they admit they never go to games anymore.
if the WSFC go on board with GHFA and really targeted the younguns then i think the area would support WSFC.

edit: maybe this thread can be moved the aust football.

Oi, keep your hills mitts off GHFA ... it's Mariners territory thanks (we just let SFC train here)

On topic .. I will be going to Canberra if I can for the game, but wouldn't mind it at Parramatta. I feel sorry for the Capital and South Coast bids ... shafted before they got off the ground by the FFA

yes but you dont see or hear about the mariners in GHFA that much, you may, but quite a few people dont, esp at our and neighbouring clubs. if WSFC were to have a northern spirit level of involvement in GHFA then i think they would explode. (only talking bout GHFA because i am a part of it, dont know much about other associations)
and to answer the question put forward by poko, no i dont think the cove will suffer. however i think sfc crowds outside the cove will fall. sydney really needs a team that is engaged with community, sfc have failed miserably at this and their pathetic crowds are testament to that.

We are getting paid to pay in Canberra not Western Sydney, So unfortunately no.

Oh and I thought it was because Bluetongue was being resurfaced.

Rubbish it is just about jumping on the western Sydney band wagon for our own benefit.

We would certainly draw a larger crowd at Parramatta plus a larger number of Coast supporters would be able to make the trip.

I think having two teams will grow the crowds long term for both clubs, you will either be a city fan or a westie fan. .

Agree, also should add to media exposure with a match on every week.

From the sounds of the west sydney bid i doubt they would want us to play there.

And playing the game at the dome would have been more valuable to us especially if we played victory

theyll hopefully catch the thousands, FC seemingly estranged with their methods
the number of football nut fans that support other teams, my self included, for the fact that they
hate what FC stood for, has suprised me, i hope they kick it!
