ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hi all,

We're considering merging all the posts from the "Behind the Goals" Board into this one (CCMFC). Not a lot gets posted in the Behind the Goals bit, so not many people look there, and when a topic that really falls under that area comes up, it generally gets put here anyway.

Any objections?

Must have missed the memo. I've never heard of the 'Behind the Goals' board.

I find it a bit of a nuisance having this forum and the various Facebook pages. Ideally it would be nice to have a single location. But I suppose some would argue that variety is good. Facebook is good for many things, but I prefer the CCM Fans for forum discussions.

Not sure if there are any factional politics going on there. Excuse my ignorance if there is.

The separate boards have always been in place, in the early days it was CCMFC Generally and The Marinators

The different facebook pages serve different purposes. There's Yellow Army, Mariners Official, an unofficial CCMFC one, Official Supporters Club, and the one that's being set up for ccmfans. The ccmfans one needs to provide something different to all the other options already out there, otherwise it's pretty useless, and I shut it down last year because people were just getting bombarded with the same stuff 3 or 4 times and that's a bit silly.

You forgot to mention the info coming through Twitter, too!

Anyway, I guess this is a tick in the "don't care" box? :D

. i whole-heartedly concur (and will give reasons) ... glad you had the idea because i was trying to find the right words to politley ask whilst being unaware of any IT implications

. i like one board for all CCMFC stuff (although i think mr. celery may be a little confused)

. recently the megaphone thread was rightly put in 'behind the goals' ... and the only reason i found it was because fp posted on this board he had created a thread and i had to go looking for it. even after i created a link it didn't seem to get much traffic until it was moved to this board

. a couple of threads have been started here and relocated to 'behind the goals' where they are then ignored and the topics they hoped to discuss then continue in other threads in 'CCMFC' sometimes multiple times. so you end up with the source thread unused and the relevant discussion taking place over various other threads ... it's all too much for my simple brain

. thanks - great idea ... oh and while i am on it, you guys have done a great job recently with the increase in 'traffic' and trying to encourage input from newbies and lurkers

As a newbie - I only read CCMFC - Didn't know behind the goal existed - Possibly due to time restraints & a small brain.

Once in CCMFC there was always enough to satisfy my urges so didn't go looking for others.

I reckon a behind the Goals thread in CCMFC is the way to go (could block it so it's always number 2 header or something no matter what time or date the last post was) - That's my 5c anyway

I work in advertising, and I will say now that if we are wanting to encourage greater active support participation (which, unless I am completely wrong, is our goal) then the threads discussing active support should be on the board that has the greatest number of users and posting activity, instead of being on a board that is only going to be searched for by people already interested in/ participating in active support...

Also I'm am forum exclusive - I don't date Facebook or Twitter but I'm sure links to those things don't hurt

I ,along with everyone here ,appreciate the work that Adz & the admins do.

Shouldn't we all be 'on the same page' ? To my mind fragmenting only leads to confusion. Already we seem to have too many sites where info and opinion is posted. Personally, I am not 'facebook' savvy nor do I wish to be so can we have a site where we can all share in the latest Mariners news and opinions .

Oops. You may be right. In my IT circles, the 'Behind the Goals' section of THIS site is called a 'forum' not a 'board'.

In fact, when you search, it actually says 'forums'. Sorry for being pedantic!

I thought you were taking about this board instead: http://www.behindthegoals.net/. Which I assume has no connection at all!

Sorry mate. I was actually wondering about what wording to use... I figured "Forum" might get confused with the overall thing being a forum (ie. check out the forum) so went with board, hoping that the titles would give a better hint as to what I meant.

To be technically correct, the software (Xenforo) refers to them as "nodes", which I didn't use as I thought nobody would have a clue :D.

Adz - I have gone & viewed the Behind the Goals thread for the first time - I do believe it should stay as it's own header but bring it up to 2nd on the list so it doesn't get lost.
1. CCM FC - Name Change to - CCM FC - General Mariners Discussions
2. Behind the Goals - Maybe also a name change to Behind the Goals - Yellow Army - Active Support
3. The rest

Then leave it to the regulars to introduce or prompt posters to view, move or repost there comments into the BTG section - There fore bringing awareness & stopping duplicate or triplicate posts

There are lots of headers in Behind the Goals that would get lost in CCM FC once they are not on the first page IMO
or in the CCM FC threads have a link to the BTG section - E.g. The First or Second Header (never removed regardless of last post etc.) is BTG & when you click it - It takes you to the BTG Forum threads.

Cheers Big Al. The first couple of threads are "stickied" so they will stay at the top of CCMFC just like they are always at the top of BTG (the reason for "Behind the Goals" was all the name changes for the active supporter group).

The main thing I guess is it's pretty inactive; if you scroll down a little bit you will see threads with the last reply 2012 (only a few posts made in there for the whole of last year) and then 2011...

We generally don't get a lot of discussion on the active support side of things since the Yellow Army facebook page was created, and they generally organise things in private anyway.

Since it's all about supporting Central Coast Mariners FC... might as well just have everything in the one place :D
