With Mile and Tommy right in the mix for Australia and Wee-Mac a good chance if NZ make it. How many Mariners do you think will make it to Brazil. I'm going for 4. I'm hoping NZ gets through so that Wee-Mac goes. Tommy and Mile should be there. Hoping for a bolter out of Maty, Trent and Mitch.

And really, he should be taking Rose over Thwaite and McKay as bloody Left backs.

It was an absolute travesty that Sains didn't play for the 'Roos tonight. Surely if he was in the mix for Brazil, he would've at least got a run in a dead rubber.

Mind you, how hotly contested is that keeper spot. Eugene will prob get a spot after the EA cup performance. Schwarz. So I'd say it's between Matty and Langerak,
but there's still Federici and Jones too...

agreed, Brilliante was far from....dare I say it....Brilliant, Sainsbury would have done a far better job I think. Cornflake was far too slow in defence and cost us that game. I thought McKay was reasonable last night which is a big call for me to make as I am hot and cold over him, usually cold. Overall the defence was horrible

Three: Mile, Ryan, and Rogic.

Oh wait, I just read other post. Wee-Mac is a lock in for the New Zealand team, so if they get in then make it four.

It really has become absurd. I don't have an issue with Brilliante getting a run. That's what the tourney should have been about. And he deserved it after the U21WC. However playing Thwaite or Cornthwaite, McKay or North over Sainsbury - the A leagues most promising young CB of last season - is just ridiculous if it's about the future and development. The approach of SK, China, and Japan were all clearly superior to ours for getting worth out of this exercise (for different reasons).

How terrific wold it have been to be was watching a mix of our top and most promising experimental youth side comprised of players like...
Langerak, Ryan, Leckie, Oar, Duke, Bernie, Tommy (Could do with extra experience is he is going to shine at the WC and better served by it than bloody McKay or Thompson) Sainsbury, Goodwin, Behich, Pain, Mooy, Anderson, Sarota, Zullo, Balbalj, Paartalu, Lowry, Williams, Gameiro, Tombides, Troisi, DeVere, McGowan, Irvine, Antonis, Bulut, Bozanic...

That's where our future is. Or would be. If it could get a chance over some of Holgers absurd selections. Zadkovic? It beggars belief.

I understand that the side against China was supposed to be an experimental side and that most overseas clubs were reluctant to let our players go to a non FIFA sanctioned tournament and as such it would always largely be a makeshift A league squad. I even understand that some of these players were picked so Holger can suss out if anyone is up for the challenge but surely there were other options. How many Jets players made the squad?? seriously, where did they end up finishing last season???

Totally agree. Zadkovich, seriously? What on earth made Holger decide on that pick?
