ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Exciting stuff.

Central Coast Mariners chairman Peter Turnbull is heading to Europe this week for a fact-finding mission with some of Europe's biggest clubs.

Turnbull will be meeting with powerbrokers from Chelsea and Celtic, while also spending time in Italy with Fiorentina, Parma and at the Italian Federation's Coverciano training centre.

The Mariners supremo was influential in the A-League club securing major investment from the Australian government for their own training centre in Tuggerah.

Turnbull expects the project to develop into one of Asia's most notable centres of excellence and news of the government's support has reached football powers in Europe - where the likes of Chelsea and Celtic are keen to exchange ideas with the Mariners.

Fiorentina are laying on the red carpert for Turnbull, where he will be granted 'access all areas' at the Stadio Franchi for their clash with Parma - with Viola coach Sinisa Mihajlovic happy for the Aussie to visit the home dressing room.

The Italian Federation have also gone out of their way to have Turnbull inspect the Coverciano training centre in Florence next weekend.

wonder what sort of things he would be able to actually take on board, considering the size difference between us and these teams

but this can only be a positive trip in my opinion

Remo Nogarotto has travelled around and met a lot of people too, and look where the Jets are now.

The information is pointless unless put to good use in a program that will deliver benefits. Otherwise it's just a junket. We'll see what this delivers.

Yeah but the jets were not building a centre of excellence were they.

Perhaps I'm a bit cynical on this one but my immediate reaction was "junket" too. I guess it makes sense to check out other so called "Centres of Excellence" overseas.

I'm not saying it is a junket, I'm saying I want to see what comes of it before I get excited.

Agreed. Could it be that one of these clubs looks to invest in the COE and use it as a base for training and scouting regional (Asia Pacific) based talent. Imagine Chelsea throwing their name behind the project!
