Hard one. We looked so goal shy, taking the wrong option time and time again in front of the goal. Flores and Fitzgerald tried to pass when they should have shot, and Fitzy's missed shot was abysmal. Duke took it on himself to actually have a ping, which was really good. No-one else seemed to want to. For me, it would be between Flores and Roux for MOTM though. Flores' penalties and movement were good, and Roux was fantastic in attack. Could use some more defensive training, but Heart were very quick going forward.

Thinking the same re: in front of goal. Looked very gun-shy. I think Fitzy was like that last season when he got on the pitch but then when he shot he had at least 1 good goal. Don't think he can hit with his left though?

Can't wait to get Wee-Mac for a full game.

Hard to pick as no one shone.

Credit to Pasfield, storm boy, tesco (mainly),monty, weemac, Flores, duke.

Passfield gave them the first goal, but he made up for it with those two or three good saves. Needs to work on not having granite hands.

Had to give it to Storm this week, although the lift in the team when Wee Mac came on was almost enough to get Wee Mac the points... but the creation of the hand ball in the box by Storm was awesome :D

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
went with Stormy again for all the same reasons stated...but I thought Monty was pretty good

Storm Roux. Neither of the goals was his fault, and he was dynamite going forward. If only Rose was as good.

Pasfield at fault for the first goal, but otherwise solid, if not as creative or assured as Matty (my benchmark). Getting better each game though, so a good sign.

Flores for shear quality touch and vision was close.

Mickey was influential in his cameo.

Still waiting for Fitz and Duke to hone their radar. Getting closer. Can't fault the work-rate though.

Hutch and Monty had a better second half. Started getting the old 'mojo' back.

Tesco and Seip OK without being standouts. Zwaanswijk is my benchmark though, so maybe I'm being harsh.

Flores for me - Little bit more dirty work came to get the ball deeper a lot more but aloud us to go up the middle a bit more.

this weeks polling indicates, to me, people don't watch the defence .because it was roux that
put us 2 nil down .im not riding the kid ,but against good teams he'll cost us . as he did here

flores 3
hutch 2
pas1

It's between Flores and Roux...I voted Flores as he was good overall and stepped up to take two pressure penalty shots. Mention to Pasfield too. After the error that led to the goal, he bounced back pretty strong and made some key saves to get us a point in the second half.

Anybody noticed that Monty's passing game has taken off? When he gets the opportunity, he's using the ball really well and looking like a sharper threat than last year.

Hutch is looking pretty well perfect with his passing - so crisp and neat.

One thing I noticed with Seip is he often pushes the first time ball when he's actually got a little time - it means he sometimes leaves it behind his man and that stymies the attack a little. Hutch seemed to need to almost come back for the ball sometimes when Seip just tried to push it a little too quickly and missed the perfect spot by a metre or so.

Compare it to Sainsbury who does hit his one-touch passes well but very often takes a quick first touch and then pops the ball away with a little bang-bang and just hits his spots.

We're a very good looking team with the ball though, so it looks great. There were patches of the second half on the weekend where we were really really good, and last week it looked like both Grand Finalists had had a good off-season and the passing both ways was very good. Optimistic about this season as a result.

Yes and thank god for that... he was very, very poor in pre-season. Turned the ball over nearly every chance he got. Have been impressed with him so far this year.

Apparently Hutch leads the stats in completed passes for the A League - only two games, of course - and Tesco is third. And they are not all backward passes either :).
Hutch has 132 completed passes which seems to be a hell of a lot!

Hutch has evolved, the Mariner's very own Andrea Pirlo but without the set-piece ability.
