Toughest decision of the year. Personally, I think everyone was outstanding. Fitzy worked extremely hard but was having a slightly off night by his high standards. I think the character shown by the entire team was immense and is what is needed in finals football.
Storm and Matty both copped nasty knocks and continued to put all of their heart into the win so they both get the heart award. Ibini is looking very confident at the moment which I love. I thought Caceras had a brilliant game and like Storm, whenever they lost the ball they had a tendency to win it back straight away. Hutch was a true leader.

Back to the points:
3 Simon
2 Roux
1 Caceras

Tough decision. I'm going:

3 Simon
2 Bernie
1 Rose

Bernie played a MOTM cameo, but his shift wasn't long enough for me to award him 3 points. Matty was a beast up front. Great engine, even bigger heart.

I want to give honourable mentions to the back four… great games each and every one of them. Roux, especially, was the launching pad for a lot of good work down the right. Although Rosey was doing a lot of good work on the left, I thought we were most productive and most dangerous down the right.

Ando and Bos were as safe as houses in the air. WSW corners were very ineffective due to the stellar work those two were doing in the box.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
gone for Rosey...his had a couple of real quiet weeks recently, but last night he came storming back (no pun intended)...his goal was just fkn off the chain..what was it 55 yards or so?...amazing

We did great in defence, every one of our back five deserve kudos. Yeah, the goal we allowed was soft, but the constant pressure they with stood and managed to overcome, our ability to get forward proper in transition down the wings as well as the middle, all great.

Tough team made us play a tough game and we rose to the occasion. Give everyone a medal like it is the little leagues!

Also, Storm worked just kept getting forward even right til the death and eventually set up the winner. What a guy!

Caceres for me....I like his style and his abilities and his commitment. I just wish we get more Monty and Caceres.......they are a much better combo together than anything else.

Good to see Rosey and Storm having the confidence to get forward and attack, more confidence in Bosnar and Anderson I believe, things are looking good for the finals.

3pts: Storm
2pts: Rose
1pts: Ibini

Special mention to the Mariners fans, biggest roar Ive heard for a goal at home since the Jets semi final back in season 3.

Monty for almost breaking Shinji in half as soon as he came on
but had to give it to Berni - He dribbled us out of trouble & let a couple of flares of his own off at Covic & then lit the cannon for last time this season (regular season).

I gave my vote to Matty. Never stopped giving Beauchamp & Hyphenator stomach cramps, he held the ball up and then did something good with it better than I've seen him do it before. And for coming back on at the death so we weren't short-handed even though he was almost crippled with cramp. Top game Matty Simon, hope you've done enough to get yourself another contract.

Ive given Reddy some love. Was a vault at the back and made some really ballsy moves coming out to clear in some dangerous situations.

I honestly can't work out who to give it to...
Rosey starting to look more like himself, Bosnar was a rock, as was Ando and Reddy... Storm-boy was excellent!
I thought Hutch did a fine job, as did Monty and Caceres was excellent too :)
I was less aware of Kim, but thought he looked decent when I noticed him, Bernie was great as always, Mile did quite a bit of defensive work, Duke was Duke, ever the hassle to defenses and Matty was painful as ever - to them. I'm tempted to give it to Matty, for the hard work and heart, but also too Kim for geeing up the crowd and again, showing heart... R Storm for the pass to Bernie... I just don't know... But what I have learnt is that there are fans out there who seem to have decided that Matty is the devil.. whether it's because he started poorly, isn't always our best, they like Duke better or their friends say so... That saddens me... He has his flaws, but I can respect and like a loyal club man.. I fully expect to see him in bay 16 after he retires some day... How many other players can you say that about?
