ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Lawrie McKinna has returned as director of football for the mariners on a 3 year deal!
This can only be good news.

Great to see Lawrie back. A founding Father he deserves our respect and thanks but don't dream of making him coach again. Everyone loves Lawre including the media so hopefully we can put his skills to good use.

Good news. Lawrie belongs at the club. Perfect role for him i think, rather than coaching though i've always felt his coaching was much underestimated. What he did with the squads he had available was excellent. The drama's continue with much more to unravel! Enough to drive a Mariners fan to drink.

. welcome back uncle lawrie

. despite your history with blacktown, it would have felt wrong to see you go 'west'

Fans Function last night proved Lawrie coming back is a step in the right direction for the club. Great turn out, especially from an older crowd. Talks of a fan forum as well, which I'm sure is to come. Things are looking up for next season.

. absolutely. great initiative from the club

. no doubt this type of engagement will be part of his role (he won't be able to help himself) and this time he will be able to do it without the 'burden' of coaching too. meanwhile it will also take the pressure off arnie

. he is a natural ... he managed to have fox quoting there was 300 (i think it was) there during their call. brilliant stuff

Can you or anyone elaborate on this for me? Do you mean the club holding a public forum for fans to communicate with CCM?

. he didn't really elaborate only to say that they are organising something for the next month or so

. lawrie seems dead keen to re-engage with the fans ... i got the impression it would be a public forum

. no idea to be honest ... but not 300

. maybe 100? does anybody have a better idea?
Lawrie said there was 200 odd. He was very impressed with the numbers. He said they were going to have fan forums, I would think similar to what west Sydney have been doing

Between 60-80 in my estimation. Still, it was a good event and worth the trip down from Newcastle.

It was great to see Hearfield (Newcastle) and Pedj (Sydney) travel a distance to attend. And locals Brownie and Porter too. Credit to Porter, who didn't have his contract renewed, and still made the effort. Respect.

Lawrie did commit on the night to a public forum for fans soon.

Lawrie was big on "reconnecting" the fans with the club. I think the club knows that the drop off in attendance needs to be addressed, and that other issues (coach signing, cashflow) have sidetracked them from their mission of being the best community club. Lawrie is the perfect man to do that due to his great personality and warmth, and his PR and marketing skills.

With a region that has very limited media outlets other than radio compared to other clubs, the options to get the club noticed have to be very creative.

After enjoying the AFC night earlier this week, I reckon a fans 'games night' would be a good idea for the off-season. Eg. a football trivia night, maybe combined with a big game of 'Wembley' (a fun and exciting board game that I've seen converted to be played in an auditorium).

I hope they dont have a fans forum. Every man and his dog will have a different opinion on how the club should be run

Personally, I think we need something in the off-season. Unfortunately, with local football and also being winter, its hard to attract a crowd. I love a good trivia night, I think thats a great idea! The Marinators used to run a great one, would love to see that come back.
