Just wondering what everyones thoughts on pre-game in the Kendall Room are? It was pretty packed out on Saturday, and it's been locked in for 2 hours before every home game.

What did you like, not like, and is there anything you would like done differently?

Next Home game there should be football on the screen instead of music. Only reason there wasn't on Sat was because there wasn't any on Fox at all :(

Didn't go in . Why

I knew it would be a shit fight to get a park etc. & new it would be real busy at the club so left early. Got to the club about 3pm. Got one of the last parking spots.

Queue's at the bar were pretty bad - Club either disorganised or totally unprepared. Shit you knew for months the WSW were coming. They love a drink as much as we do.

By the time we got a drink & sat down in the seats at the back room behind the Kendal room where everyone was sitting patiently the doors still had opened for the Kendall even though the demand was there. After sitting the missus didn't want to move. Then we I said you want another we can go in there but we decided it might be better to head over to the stadium early to get our members gear, some merchandise, some food & soak up the atmosphere at the ground.

I think an earlier time for the real big games where the club gets packed early - SFC, RBB again & the other games leave as is.

Also won't need to go to ground & get members gear etc. early like round 1. Like the idea & wanted to come in just circumstances didn't allow.

There was a delay in the Kendal room being opened as they were removing the couches and putting more tables etc in there. Buzz in there was really good, and was great to catch up with people who I hadn't seen in ages.

There was a bit of a delay opening this week, although it was scheduled for 3:30 and I think it wasn't far off that, but there was something on beforehand that ran late. The poor guy setting up the room was practically running around with tables and chairs setting the place up! I might see if we can get it opened a bit earlier for the big games; there were a lot of people wandering around waiting for the doors to open!

I had a great time. It was good to see the place packed again with Yellow & Navy!

At first glance the bar queue seemed lengthy, however it was deceptive as the way they ask you to line up is in a semi circle. Speaking to Charles he said they do this when it's full as it discourages people pushing into each other, and pushing in. Was nice to have my own personal space whilst waiting in the line.

I'll definitely be back for next game!

I wanted to get in but had a singlet on so i couldn't come in apparently, there should be an exemption for game day or even if is just for that room because come on its 30+ out that and im hot i dont wanna have to carry a shirt so i can go there before the game. Is there anyway this is possible the people were rude bout it aswell if you can make a exception for thongs, jerseys im sure a singlet wont be crazy (ps why are women aloud singlets but men not i wasn't wearing a wife beater it was a my local soccer team singlet in our colours no less)

It was great to see the Kendall much busier than usual, and not due to the WSW fans - only a few of their people wandered in. Would liked to have seen something football related on the big screen, but I suppose Miley Cyrus was better than nothing.

Resigned to the fact that you will only ever get one drink in if you arrive any later than an hour before kick off, due to the slow bar service. I agree with Big Al on this. I commented to a friend that all the bar staff would be servicing the pokie players as that's where the money is. Understandable I suppose, but still, you'd think they would have had an extra person on duty for the big games.

A big thanks for encouraging fans back to a central meeting place. The last few games of last season was missing that.

Funny you should say that - It's exactly what I did after the game & was served within 2mins.

. couldn't get there because volunteering duties started at 3

. but i will say that under-staffing is nothing new on game day (irrespective of the opposition) and not limited to the kendall

. we were at the leagues club around 2 hoping to get something to eat (post-lunchtime rush but prior the pre-game crush) but it was not to be:
  • waited in line at the bistro for 25 minutes or so to move only about a 1-2 metres
  • hubby made a run up to the upstairs cafe to find that it now only opens after 8pm
  • the 'stuff-till-ya-chuck' is poor value for money for us particularly without pre-planning

Out of curiosity, how many bar staff is enough?

. fair enough question ... and the answer is typically 'too many staff is never enough'

. not being very big on the drinking thing i will provide an example of what is not enough (for the bistro) and it may be transferable (to the bar situation). one person to take orders for both the bistro and cafe ... as well as 'manage' the tables ... is clearly not enough when the line to place orders is long and barely moving ... everybody loses in this situation

Sadly, I wasn't able to get over there to check it out due to the craziness that is the first game of the season! I hope to be able to pop by next home game and check it out :)

pretty much the same as everyone else`s comments.
We got there about 2.45pm queued for 25 mins to get a drink(1 bar open) .
Waited for the Kendall to open but after 15mins decided to get into the queue at the gates.

I`d like to see:- football on the screen
a few chants
Mariner`s fans only-this should be our "clubhouse, for our fans. Not open to everyone"
