ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Human Cloning is it just around the corner??

Wouldn't work, they would be trying so hard to hack each other that the ball would be totally forgotten. Kinda missed the point of the post though.

Anyone who tries to stop medical and/or scientific advances that will one day prove to be 200% beneficial to the human race on religious or shaky moral grounds is quite frankly, an idiot.  What we will gain from these experiments is nothing short of an actual biological miracle.

At the same time, anyone who also thinks that a high majority of current medical procedures, medications and what have you, came about at the very first true and without a significant period of experimentation in both a lab and on live humans is nothing short of naive.

So you would say that cloning a complete human is a good thing??
Not talking just genetic engineering, which in many cases is a good thing, but creating a whole person.... You could essentially make yourself immortal.

You wouldn't be immortal because a biological clone doesn't share the same developed conciousness of a adult human from whom they are cloned.

The cloned person would be biologically identical. The exact same DNA. Just like in the case of identical twins.

It is only immortality in the same sense that normal reproduction is immortality. One's genes are passed on into the next generation. Granted it is a whole and perfect copy of your genes, but the experiences a person would have would shape them into an entirely different person.

Human cloning, in my opinion, is a good thing. It is a development of our understanding of the world and our ability to affect it. That can't be judged as bad.

It would be the instances of use that would be judged to be good or bad.

They seem to think that in about 20 or so years time, they will be able to turn off the aging code in our DNA, making us basically immortal.

I'm not a great fan of cloning. I'd like to think I'm rather unique, and the possibility of a clone of me wandering around is kinda irky.

Imagine a whole Bay 16 of Bearinators, Auburns, Dibos and Part_Timers? Rather daunting crowd support.

The botox industry would die.

I'm all for cloning.

Can you imagine the sheer entertainment value of watching 11 Musc**ts play against 11 Jedinaks?

11 Arnolds / 11 Kossie's / 11 Con's .....
