Vidmar fined for referee outburst
Tuesday, 8 January 2008:
Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar has been fined an undisclosed sum for criticising A-League referee Matthew Breeze.
Football Federation Australia said Vidmar had been fined for "disparaging remarks" which breached the league's code of conduct.
Vidmar's outburst came after Adelaide lost its December 28 encounter with Sydney United, a 3-1 defeat before a crowd of 25,039 spectators at Adelaide Oval.
Breeze incurred the wrath of Vidmar during a media conference the next day.
"I thought he (Breeze) was man of the match," Vidmar sarcastically told reporters.
"Some of the decisions that he made were quite mind boggling, not just to me, but 26,000 fans saw the same decisions."
Comment was being sought from Vidmar.
