ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

'White Shoe Brigade' for their name?

i think that's great, they might as well embrace that part of the region's history! we're hardly in possession of the world's greatest name in any case.

Agree with dibo, our name is not great

Our name is rubbish to be fair but no point in changing it............looking back the dock would have been a better name IMO

Funny that all the good names come out after the fact and not when a name is being searched for.

What's the point in changing names now? People who were here from the start made a decision and Marinators it was, besides it's just a name, changing it won't affect numbers or chants.

Yep, just one of those things. No matter.

Would it benefit us? We are known around the country as the Marinators and weve been noted in national media. We do have some history and we do have a culture of our own that's developed over time. Changing name would mean we cut a link (at least in a small way) to that history.

I wasnt in the discussions on the name as I signed up to the forum a little late for that, but I remember hearing the name and having a chuckle. It did fine then and now its part of who we are as a group.

Eh, a few names were put forward by some people on the forum, Marinators was enough of a piss-take and enough multi-meanings to work.  So it was sort of agreed, and used as a working name as a trial for WCQ 2005. The media liked it and used it, Lawrie used it a lot, it just sort of stuck.

Of course the formal CCLC club could change it's name whenever the members want, but for the informal name ... which is what it is ... then who knows whether it would die or just continue. That is how these things work.
