ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A 'Foster-Postecoglu'esque argument between 'Slater and Kewell' just occured on Fox Sports FC, anyone else see it?

Yep saw it, shame Kewell didn't script it cause i would have loved to have seen Slater suffer a bit more. Can't stand the cock.

Amazing TV, i even had it recorded on IQ by chance i missed it.
i think during the end of the interview that someone behind the scene cut RS off as SH was the mediator.
i love Harry even more... FIRE UP.. gotta love his Passion

Once Harry said ask your mate Arnie, RS didn't say much and looked a bit sheepish. Funny that.

I just can't see any good reason for Slater to write the article. I don't see any point to it except to have a go at Kewell and/or big note himself with some sort of "scoop".

There's a lot of stuff that goes on off the field that journalist know about but never print it. Hell, there was even a fight between two Mariners players at training one day (both ex Mariners but still playing in the HAL) but the story was never reported in the press.

Team mates not getting on has been happening since Football started. This story should never have been published because it's simply no big deal.

Agree with MM, it was terrible television that made me cringe at the whole thing.

This.

Disgusted me.

Would you prefer to watch staged, sterile interviews for the rest of your life? It seems you and a few others would but I'm certainly finding it refreshing to see some passion in the discussions.

However, it is a fair point that Slater was in a very difficult position and his producer may not be Slater's favourite person at the moment. I think its a bout time journalists became accountable for their journalism. Perhaps not so much someone like Slater but all those trash talk and shock jock journalists that make things up should be put in a room with Kewell for half an hour :-D

A client drove me home today and he is a RL fan so listens to 2UE a Sydney Fossil AM radio station that has a RL program on that mixs in other sports … but a station that carried the great JW for years and has Robbie on as a regular I am told for the last few years [stopped listening a number of years back so can offer no real comment about their football coverage]

One of the commentators Greg Alexander a RL great and Australia player who also works for Fox was giving his opinion on the whole thing…

He made what I tho was the most telling comment…. you can get your message across without saying a player said this… it is insanity to put pen to what Robbie did even if his source told him… Greg said he gets told things all the time but there are other ways to report the story….meaning I guess that Robbie has made one huge mistake …..

If he was a junior I can accept a mistake … but he is not …. and lets be honest we need stories like this like we need a hole in the head…. but what sadness me more is IMO Harry is the greatest player we have ever had and he has always been their for the big games and has copped crap from fools for years…. that Robbie would publish what most would not have is in excusable… he has shown that he is incapable of making a reasoned decision …. accordingly not up to the job….

Robbie should be sacked today by Fox …. even Jessie Fink who helped write his book is against Robbie on this one….

FourFourTwo are strongly hinting that it was Chipperfield. I still think Slater's reaction to the mention of Arnold's name was the most telling thing. And it's not as if Arnold and Kewell are the best of mates.

How he still has a job as anything slightly resembling a journalist is beyond me.

Glad you were entertained. But my personal entertainment comes as a distinct second to the greater good of our game and watching what can only be described as a personal attack on one of our only real homegrown football legends.
This has had no positive impact for anyone involved or Australian football. It was complete gutter journalism plain and simple.

If Fox are so inept that they can only keep agreeing on all but the odd call, and so only offer up "staged and sterile" viewing, yep I'll most definitely take it over muck raking gossip by a boofheaded hack that only serves to drag people and our sport into the gutter.

As I see it, Slater's article was nothing more than a continuation of Cockerill's articles during the WC, in which his criticisms of Kewell had an obvious personal motive. Is it a 'Fox Commentators Football Caretakers Club' agenda and simply another chapter in the never ending story of factional politics in Australian football? It does appear on face value, if it requires sullying his character to achieve their goal, then the ends justifies the means.
