ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

enquiry from mariner fans on NYE

BrisRecky

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
So there I was with Mrs Recky sitting nicely in the shady part of bay 12...the game started, bay 16 started going..and this guy and his wife musta spotted the old marinators hat and asked me what the hell the Bay was chanting with the following sentence on the end of said enquiry..."if we knew we would join in"....so just off the top of my head which as we all know is hollow and flat...what do ya think the chances would be, given that Fish, Lou and MarinerMum do a column for the Sun...that a chant sheet gets done up and put in the Sun for the general public to rip out and keep for future reference...could be good for Asia when 5,000 singing nipponese show up...what ya think???

I reckon a "Chant of the week" is a good idea. Pick one simple (& clean) chant each home game. We only need 3 or 4 and keep recycling through them.
Suggestions:
Come On You Yellow
Yellow Football Team
Coast (aka toast)

...But I must admit I never used to read the sun until that column appeared. Would anyone read it?

If its read by 50 people thats 50 more chanting to the atmosphere.

Those 50 will also tell mates/friends on how the chant goes as well.

Better to be proactive than inactive!

I may be wrong but didn't chant of the week happen early on in the column? tbh I don't know how many would read it.

Surely 1st chant must be "stand up" ?

We can add (if you hate the scum) once they get used to it lol

imo if the kents wanna learn the words they can get off their arse and go and ask someone/ move closer so they can hear

What about small runs of songsheets (i.e. not a mass blanket campaign to hand out thousands all round the stadium); just keep a few copies at the back of bay 16 to be handed out to people who come asking for one.
IF (and it's a big 'if') someone is seen joining in a few chants from another bay, maybe some of the people around them will ask the words or see their songsheet and ask where to get one.

I know the idea of songsheets has been brought up before. I believe the main arguments against them were potentially large amounts of litter and the difficulty of finding volunteers to hand them out. I think both of these issues could be dealt with by having a small number of sheets and making them available to people who want them and come and ask for one.

Maybe something that might be considered for finals matches if the crowd issues end up similar to last season.

Of course I'm also assuming there are actually some people out there like Wrecky describes in the opening post, who want to find out the words and join in
