Maybe we will be Sharing BT next season...

THE Cronulla Sharks were last night bunkered down in a crisis board meeting considering partial relocation to Gosford in a desperate, multimillion-dollar move to stave off their worsening financial woes.

Cronulla? Cronulla? FFS... I hate Cronulla. You're not even allowed into their games without a southern cross tattoo and a 'love it or leave it' shirt, are you?

Dear NRL/Cronulla

Piss off.
We wanted our own NRL team; we even built a stadium for it. In return, you gave as table scraps. A team that only would play 1 in 3 home games at bt (correct me if Im wrong). Then at the first opportunity, you dropped us (The Central Coast).

I for one, dont want your pitiful offerings. So NRL, from the bottom of my heart, take your dead, rotting corpse of a sport and piss off.

Having stopped laughing about it, it could actually work well

Sharks move a few home games here and get the knuckledraggers all excited about maybe having a club of their own (they wont but thats what they will be sold).

Move doesnt work - leave town with tail between legs (again)

NRL scrubbed off the map as far as coasties are concerned.

Good, bring on the women hating drunken rapists

LOL @ NRL http://www.livenews.com.au/sport/sharks-up-for-sale-says-zappia/2009/5/8/205668

Sharks up for sale, says Zappia

It is tough, but I want to see if there is anyone out there who wants equity in the Sharks...

Cronulla-Sutherland chief executive Tony Zappia has proclaimed the Sharks are now "for sale" and he will be seeking cashed-up equity partners in the club following a swift rejection of plans to relocate five home games to the Central Coast.

Zappia told the Sydney Morning Herlad he was extremely disappointed at the decision of the NRL's partnership executive, which decided not to support an $800,000 part-relocation idea at this stage.

"I am very disappointed, but it was an opportunity that we needed to look at, and not getting approval is a hurdle we need to overcome," Zappia said. Plan B for the Sharks is to seek financial backers prepared to buy a stake in the club, which is potentially asset rich - with undeveloped land beside the leagues club - but cash poor.

Last year, the Sharks lost $1.4 million, turned $6 million in the bank into a $2 million overdraft and have more than $12 million of short-term debt that has still to be refinanced.

Zappia is looking for some guaranteed income to satisfy the bankers that the football club and leagues club entities can operate as a going concern. Long term, the club is looking to develop the land with a $110 million proposal before Sutherland Council.

"We have to be proactive, it is tough, but I want to see if there is anyone out there who wants equity in the Sharks, I will be knocking on everyone's door," Zappia said.

"The Sharks board hasn't canvassed it, but it is part of my responsibility to look at whatever is out there."

Zappia said in order to generate more immediate cash flow he may look to play more games in Adelaide - where the South Australian government has been offering financial incentives - and removing the Sharks' home-ground advantage when they are due to play the Brisbane Broncos in late June, relocating the match from Toyota Stadium to Suncorp Stadium

Boo hoo!

Having been "asked to leave" Toyota Park by the boys in blue at a Spirt v Greeks game I wont be sad to see the back of them!

In hindsight, Toyota Park was a strange venue for U-limp-pricks to use as a home base...

BTW - I think we lost the game 3 - zip and certain Dylan MacAlister scored for for them!

OK I stand corrected, Dylan played but didn't score, Ante Milicic, Tommy P and Andrew Packer scored

Well, Honkee's quotes are a fitting commentary about the state of their game as we all know that Cronulla is (once again) a financial mess and the Parramatta club isn't too far behind.

Maybe Zappia will have better luck convincing the Parramatta board for a full relocation when he eventually gets poached to work over there (as is the word on the street).

Their blue and yellow strip would fit in well with the Mariners new strip and Bluetongue stadium surrounds, don't you think?  ;) ;D
