ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Corners

Does anyone know how many goals we have conceded last season and in the ACL from fkn corners?

2 against Tianjin and 1 against Kawasaki are the two most recent but it happens all the time, this can only be put down to 2 things

1: poor coaching, LM should be kicking their asses and telling them to pick up guys and watch for runs into the box
2: danny not talking to his defence, not telling them to stop marking nobody and pick up these runners

It's costing us at least a goal a game and we're not exactly setting the world on fire on the other end of the pitch either with goals of our own.

Anyone else frustrated by this?

Given that he said we had been working on our defence all week, might it be reasonable to ask that Huke and Porter pay closer attention.

Mind you, after their 1-1 scoreline in defending the post f**k ups in China, Huke won 2-1 last night

(If you dont laugh etc etc)

Yes - Taking a Post means sticking on it..... The ball should not go in off the post if your up against it......... FFS its the first thing you organise as a keeper....

The other thing interesting was we had no one sitting on half way - all were down near the D.....

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
as relates to our taking of corners...I've seen Porter put a ball right into the box at Pluim...so why is everyone who is taking corners at bluetongue, trying to hit the flag at the opposite corner??

Why were Osman and Caceres taking them?

Defending corners has been very poor recently but when was the last time we scored from a corner??????

They are too busy worrying about harrassing the keeper, rather than organising themselves into a good position.

Not that any position is good enough with the delivery you can expect.

We need to get someone a bit bigger than huke and porter on the corners. But more importantly, i think porter needs to be further forward. Playing at right back he often comes in for headers against big strikers or mids who easily tower over him and get a fairly clean header

The reason behind Huke and Porter being on the posts is that they may have been the most mobile and quick with the reflexes. Quick to get their foot in on a low volley, in other words.  Sadly Huke strayed too far away from his post and paid the price for it.

Corners are definitely one of our main weaknesses; both offensively and defensively. In attack we need to not only get the ball in the box, but have runners instead of everyone standing there waiting for the ball to come to them.

QUite obviously, in defence we need players to stand on the posts until the ball is clear and for everyone else to pick a man and stay on them.
