every week he is named in the squad but never plays... so is he long term injured but the club is trying to hide it from us or is he a genuine chance each week?

He has I understand a neural injury that is almost impossible to diagnose definitively. He wants to get back on the field but his body is just not getting him there.

You have to say it's been great news for Amini and Oz football.

And while I was enormously impressed by Perez, after this many games without him and no sense of when he will recover there's just no point worrying about it. And strangely enough as its worked out if Arnie is willing to drop Ollie into CAM when Amini tires/is being bossed, with Lewis coming in wide left as he has done before - and not Simon or Hutch going into the #10 - then I'm actually, amazingly not too worried about our number ten possy anymore.

However I still believe, though a few seem to refutie it - that upfront is the greater concern and that we are still in need of an additional pacey clinical striker. I sincerely like Matty and McBreen and thought Matty while blowing what should have been a goal. also showed some real improvement last game in his touch and taking men on, (MORE please Matty) but I also maintain we need another trike option and unfortunately Kwas while doing great off the bench is just too hot and cold for mine when he starts. For mine it's very hard not to wonder just how many goals we could be scoring with a Van dijk, Smeltz, Porter, Ifil,Thompson, William... or equivalent, also in our squad.

Anyway, regardless of it all, i'm excited. Our style of play coupled with signings like Rose, Dutchy and Perez (despite his obviously shocking run) would suggest we are only going to get better and not worse under Arnie. Crowds are growing. The CO is coming, and it's easy to genuinely see us winning some trophies under GA.

We all agree about the need for a better striker upfront but may have to wait til next season. My issue is that despite all the brilliant attacking play neither McGlinchey or Bozanic or Amini has scored and that they have to begin to contribute to take the pressure off the front two

They are contributing. Everything we create goes through these guys. They are not there to score but to create scoring opportunities. They are doing it brilliantly but the strikers are not scoring.

IMO, it seems as though they are having to do too much. If we had strikers that could provide a moment of brilliance and score without someone presenting it to them on a platter then you would find that our midfield would score because of gaps in the defence created by double teaming our strikers.

I didn't mean they are not contributing - they've been fantastic all season - but want I want them to do is contribute on the scoresheet...McGlinchey came close twice against GCU

The strikers are scoring. Eleven goals between the three strikers which constitutes fifty percent of our total goals scored, bearing in mind that one of those goals was an own goal.

On top of that they have a chunk of assists.

Out of the other ten goals not scored by strikers (excluding the own goal) the majority have come from set pieces in which players like Dutchy, Wilko and Griffiths have dominated. Have you noticed how many goals have been scored by set pieces in this season's competition and not open play?

I do not know what more you want from the strikers as we have the third highest goals for in the comp.

I didn't count Kwas as a striker because he is not playing more than 30mins a game and he is really an AM. By the time he is coming on we should have already sealed some games we have played with the chances Matty and McBreen are missing.

Take Kwas out and their returns are poor compared to whats being created for them

It's two games in a row now Mick (and it's not the first time even then) that our coach is saying it should be over by half team and that we have to be more clinical in front of goal. I don't think it's unreasonable to be expecting a better ratio of goal return for the number of chances we have had that have not been taken so far.

I agree our mids could also really do with contributing some goals, but it is them and our backs who have been dominating their main positional objectives. Whereas our strikers have busted guts and scored a few, but they have never as yet dominated and looked deadly in any of our games imo. And with the service they have largely ben getting, i believe they certainly could/should be.

Have to agree to disagree. We have one of the highest goals for rates in the comp and our strikers have contributed to nearly sixty percent of these goals. A striker added to that tally tonight. I also don't buy Adam kwasnik being an attacking mid. He has always been a striker exept for a brief period of a couple of seasons with the Mariners.

Arnie's clinical comments came from the chances we are spurned and these have come predominantly from midfielders.

In saying this I do believe that McBreen and Simon are too similar and we need a different type of striker. This shouldn't detract from the contribution McBreen and Simon have made to this season so far. They have busted their arses in tough conditions and have always put the team first.

Matt Simon was immense tonight and easily our man-of-the-match. He showed everything that is great about this team in their spirit.

Is he training? Yes but only light training

Has he been given time to recover fully to be in full flight for the summer at bluetounge? He is being given all the time he needs to recover as he didnt wanted to stop the injections which kept him playing each week

Why name him each week if hes injured? His injury is indefinate so GA thought he would give him every chance to play every week (expect the jets game where he wasnt named).
