Central Coast v Adelaide

Massive game this weekend, a win and we are second on goal difference. Adelaide will want revenge after our 3 zip come back and this is shaping as the biggest game of the season so far for us.

I'll go 2-1

Can't see us keeping a clean sheet at the moment but I can't see them holding us out either

I reckon that win or (more likely lose) on Weds, Adelaide will be feeling a sense of anti climax on Saturday.

3-0 to us.

I am hoping and praying that Adelaide will still be hung over from celebrating their ACL Final Win  :eek:verhead:
and come Saturday night,we will beat them 3-1.  :pirashoot: with Matty first scorer :eek:verhead:

I actually think Adelaide will come out with all guns blazing and score first. While I think we will take the win, it will not be a walk in the park. 2-1 our way with the winning goal scored late in the 2nd half.

I think we need to firm up at the back a little. I agree with Ted and think Adelaide will come out with rockets up their arses. I'm gonna predict a 2 all draw.

Tough one to predict, Adelaide could either be tired and down after a loss tomorrow, in which case it could work in our favour....or....they could produce a Mariners miracle and come back from 3 down to give themselves a chance in extra time? If they were to win then confidence would be very high, but hangovers could be very bad!

I actually think they will fade in the last 20-30 mins but will start very well, the key for us will be keeping them scoreless up until half time IMO.  Hopefully we will have Boogs back, I hope Lawrie sticks to 4-3-3 too as the more pressure we can put on their tired legs the better!

I'm gonna go with a 2-0 Mariners win, we have them at a perfect time, I can't see them keeping a clean sheet on Wednesday, and that would mean having to score 4 in 90 mins which I also can't see!  They will also be running their arses off as you're potentially in the ACL final only once, plus with the travel and media hype etc it could be too much to back up against us?

I just hope our boys play their usual game and don't have second spot on their minds, just keep focusing on 3 points!

United winning the ACL would be a better way because they will be hungry to win there first game after the ACL loss.

I think the boys have the quality to win weather there use it in the defance is another thing. Attack is perfect no need to change but yer i dont no if we will due to the defence.

And as much as wanna say yer men we will win 4-0 or 3-1.
I can only see a 1-0 or 2-1 win.
But cross my fingers for the win come on boys lets get 2 spot.

I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see Adelaide holding out Gamba and scoring minimum 3 goals of their own. Gamba just looked too good last time. So, Adelaide might win their game but they will lose the AFC Champions League Final. It will be a big come down for them after being bullet proof. Then, they'll have in the back of their mind that they're now playing the Mariners at Bluetongue and they couldn't even put us away at their own ground when they were 3-0 up last time. I reckon they'll play for the draw thus going into the game with a negative attitude. They will be tired from the Gamba game and may even have some niggles or players out through injury.

Mariners 3-1 Adelaide with the single Adelaide goal a consolation in the final 10 minutes.
Goals to Sasho, Dylan and Matty.
Crowd 12,800.

Then again, I have been known to be wrong ;D

Mariners close in on 500,000 at Bluetongue
by Benjamin Coonan

Shortly after commemorating the clubs fourth birthday, the Central Coast Mariners are on the verge of celebrating a unique milestone at Bluetongue Stadium on Saturday night, when they hope to see the turnstiles at their picturesque bayside arena click over for the 500,000th time.

Should the Mariners Hyundai A-League 2008/09, Round 11 match up against Adelaide United at Bluetongue Stadium draw an attendance of 9,590, the aggregate attendance of all Mariners matches since season one will reach the half-million mark an amazing achievement for a club that represents an immediate region of a little over 300,000 people.

Coming into Saturdays match, the combined Bluetongue Stadium attendance for each of the Mariners 51 competitive fixtures since 7 May 2005 is 490,410.

During such time, the largest ever attendance to witness a Mariners fixture is 19,238 which was the figure recorded for the Mariners Hyundai A-League 2007/08, Round 20 clash against northern rivals the Newcastle Jets.

The Mariners all-time home attendance average currently sits at 9,615 a figure that has been on the increase since the Mariners inaugural Hyundai A-League season, when the yellow and navy finished their debut campaign with a home match average attendance of 7,898.

Furthermore, last Tuesday, 4 November, the Mariners celebrated four years since they were officially invited to join the inaugural Hyundai A-League season at the launch of the new era of Australian football at Darling Harbours IMAX theatre.

"We really hope to pass this unique milestone on Saturday, which will mark another very significant achievement in the history of the Mariners," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

"Many of our Members, supporters and corporate partners, in addition to our playing group, coaching staff and administration, have been involved with the club in some capacity since that day at Darling Harbour four years ago and it really is amazing to take stock at times like these and reflect on all that weve achieved on and off field.

"We hope to see a significant attendance at Bluetongue Stadium on Saturday to help commemorate this milestone achievement with us, as we embark on the next four years of our journey, which Im certain will provide us with even more highlights than the last four."

The Mariners will resume their Hyundai A-League 2008/09 campaign at their Bluetongue Stadium home on Saturday, 15 November, when they host AFC Champions League finalists Adelaide United. Kick off is at 7.30pm.

Well assuming it isnt pissing down, you would think that 9,590 would be beaten easily. Place in the top 2 up for grabs, Adelaide (probably) beaten ACL finalists.

As a pedant, our turnstiles dont click though Ben

a macallister brace would be my ideal win!
but i really cant see us holding out their fast pace attacks, though should tire relatively
quickly (fc style). 2 maybe 3-1 to the yellow.
