ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

CCM Results after week off / break

I had a feeling that we don't perform very well after a week off, or after an National Team break so I did some research. Here we go:

2005

R16 4-1 win at BT over Scum

2006

R1  0-1 loss in Syd to Bling
R18 1-2 loss at BT to Tards
R21 1-3 loss at BT to Adel

2007

R15 1-2 loss in Bris to Qld

Major semi win at BT over Scum 3-0 (what a night!)
Grand Final 0-1 loss in Syd to Scum (still hurts.)

2008

R1 1-1 draw at EAS with Scum
R4 0-0 draw in Well with Well
R8 0-1 loss at BT to Well
R19 3-4 loss at BT to Qld

Now I know there are a few variables that need to be taken into account (injuries, weather etc) but that's 2 draws, 2 wins & 7 losses with the two wins being over the Scum where we had much more incentive to win.

Thoughts?

I think that research is depressing and we shouldn't think about statistics :D

That's what I thought too.

Hopefully the law of averages says that we're overdue for a win!

ah, the gambler's fallacy!

law of averages would suggest that if you're tossing a loaded coin, it's still loaded.

You can't change history but you can create history........i.e. first time you've beaten QLD at home in the HAL

Anything can happen in finals football and if we can get on a roll and take our chances which we have not done in recent weeks, then we can beat any of the top 3!  But we need consistency!

Just trying to cling on to something positive! Surely we're due to buck the trends?

following on from deej (and in part, repudiating my earlier mostly tongue in cheek comment) football's not tossing a coin. we could go out and pound them if we take our chances. watching us play against the top three in the last three weeks i think that even with no mile, we've got enough goals in us to beat anybody if only we put them away. we've just got to get in there and stick it up them. none of those three are unbeatable.

Yep - we've been well in contention in all three games and a few lapses and injuries have cost us dearly.

We can certainly do it.
