ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

For those that didn't receive notification the AGM is this week:

The 2014 Annual General Meeting for the Central Coast Mariners Official Supporters Club (The Crew) is coming up next Wednesday (see below details).

Members nominations for committee positions have now been received. This meeting will be a great chance to see and hear what the OSC is about, what's been happening, and about upcoming event plans. It will also be an opportunity to meet the incoming committee and discuss any feedback or suggestions you might have.

Guests on the night will include players Captain John Hutchinson and CCMOSC Player of the Year Award winner and Goalkeeper Liam Reddy.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Meeting Details:-

Date:- 6th August 2014

Was a member but won't be rejoining.

The lack of response to the moving of games being the main reason.

It basically seems to me to be just another mouthpiece for the club rather than an effective way of communicating fan concerns.

Seems to me that an AGM is the ideal forum to make such opinions known.

. all the more reason for you to get involved ... and then you may understand that your statement is far from the truth

. with regard to a lack of response ... that is partly correct. the supporters club expressed their views well before anything was announced. a 'response' would have been after the fact which would have been even more pointless than the arguments beforehand

. but out of curiosity ... did you use the supporters club to communicate your concerns? your opinion would have been conveyed to the club

. unfortunately the 'club' will make decisions based on what they think will make them the most money (short-term, long-term, ill-advised or nil-advised). the only thing that may sway them is weight of numbers ... so the fewer numbers the supporters club has the lesser their voice becomes

I will attend Man Flu willing ... looking forward to it ... never been before but to be with a bunch of locals all keen on the Mariners and to help the club ... what could be better on a mid week night ... master chef and the voice are over ... easy to place to find and reasonably located for most supporters...

Also I heard a rumour that BG will be wearing one of those special string bikini's... and hubby will be wearing one of those half speedo jobs ... so a little from column A and a little from column B .. should be a good night ...

I can only go on what was communicated to the supporters club members. If the supporter's club "expressed their views well before anything was announced" what was that view as I can't recall any consultation or announcement?

Yes I did voice my concern to the supporters club when it was announced but again if the supporters club "expressed their views well before anything was announced" what was the point of me contacting them at that stage?

A strongly worded statement from the supporters club expressing their disappointment at "home" games being played in Sydney would have been nice, in fact any strongly worded statement would have been nice, but my impression is that the supporters club is reluctant to upset the club.

If the supporters club believe that "unfortunately the 'club' will make decisions based on what they think will make them the most money (short-term, long-term, ill-advised or nil-advised)" then surely that makes them obsolete anyway?

As mentioned I did join the supporters club so that means that I am entitled to an opinion whether you believe it to be right or wrong.

Yes it would be if I was rejoining, but I am choosing not to as is my right.

Simply placing my opinion on the Mariners forum so people get both sides of the story.

. gull, i am not really in a position to speak on behalf of the committee - so please don't interpret my previous comments or those below as a statement from the supporters club - it is my opinion just as you have expressed yours ... but i can say the first views expressed to the club were those that had been heard from the members - it was already a much discussed topic because of the way the club moved the game last year

. you may also remember i have posted on here about my personal views and discussion with bruce about relocating games ... including how coasties were hurt by (and continue to feel the pain of) the whole beagles disaster, how it (NSO) is a crap venue to watch football and how many, including myself, are unlikely to follow the mariners south if they take more games away from home. but they have expressed their reasons and made their decision ... and yes, it is based on money (believe it or not there are even a few fans that support them because of the money - but usually with reservations)

. with regard to contacting the supporters club 'after' ... again it comes down to weight of numbers. if only a couple of people 'complain' and reinforce the views already expressed - what should the supporters club do? if 100 or a 1,000 people contacted the supporters club urging them to issue a strongly worded statement that is a different issue. from what i have seen the supporters club holds no qualms about upsetting the club or individuals representing the club ... but it is still a political game

. the club still has the power and the money ... any public battles must be very carefully chosen ... but that does not mean there are not ongoing ... and often very heated, discussions going on behind the scenes. but please remember that the committee is full of very passionate and very busy individuals. if you are better suited to the things that you are critical of i am sure they would appreciate your help and enthusiasm

. the fact that these discussions are taking place and becoming more regular is a good sign ... i don't think the supporters club is obsolete but they are trying to build from a weakened position. it has taken the best part of ten years to get a coordinated group together pushing for a seat at the table - this is only the beginning. if the supporters club diminishes in numbers, then their position may be further weakened. if numbers were to grow to represent the majority of members the game changes completely

. but you are correct it is your decision to get involved or not, to re-join or not. however it is important to remember that the supporters club is about more than issuing public statements disagreeing with the club. ultimately, i think, we are all there to support the team ... our team ... and this may sometimes require a distinction be made between 'the team' and 'the club'

Not true.
We're still working out what we want to do.There are talks of league wide protests from the active groups against FFA.8/10 actives groups are in talks about it.Nothing in concrete yet.
The club are apparently working out ways or have worked out ways around the restrictions so anybody can still come into the bay.Whatever they have come up with hasn't been relayed to us,neither was there a meeting to discus it.
Hence the lack of communication from our end because we simply don't know yet.
Hoping to find out more this week so we can let people know.

On the supporters club.....it's probably important to realise that they've only been around for a year.Nothing was going to be perfect from the offset.Could they have done things better? probably.None of the people involved have to be there or are professionals in this sort of thing.
People need to be patient.
