Just trying to calm down after reading the crap in Captains Corner.  No wonder we are shit and can't win a game if this is the attitue. To quote Wilko (well his ghost writer) - "We closed the chapter on a what has been a long and exhaustive season" & "The players are looking forward to a decent break".

No wonder we don't see many of our players heading over and making it in Europe if they can't handle the half season A-league, a couple of friendly cup games and a sight seeing tour to Asia.

The quicker we get the broom through the place the better!!

New captain i rekon,
but lawrie doesnt argree, with what fans think one bit.
someone holds up a negitive sign and in the press conference he says they pay to come in they can say what they want. but he doesnt listen to what they say
i think half the team needs to go.

are you willing to pay out out these contracts, i know that club wouldnt be
[/quote]

Maybe that is the issue, they know they are in no danger of getting punted as even if the club payed them out from what I understand it still comes off the salary cap if we pay them off.

Bladesman you beat me to it.

I've just finished reading that crap and came on here to make comment to find you'd already beaten me to it.

"a long and exhaustive season".........I nearly fell out my chair when I read that.

The poor dear wouldn't last 5 minutes in a european league.

Get a new ghost writer Wilko ... the season would only have been "exhaustive" if you'd gone on and won the ACF Champions League and the CWC!

If you mean "exhausting" then harden the fark up!

I know I have previously criticised this column penned in Wilko's name, so I won't repeat myself.

Wilko is a good guy to speak to, and really should be looking at getting rid of the ghost writer or slipping the column past the club's censors and putting in how he exactly feels and be damned with the club's image sensitivities.

I doubt he'd write something like 'closing the chapter .... and exhaustive season', more likely he'd be saying that he felt shattered that he and other players had been shamed on the field by better opposition and that the crowd was no longer in their corner as much. And bloody angry to whoever put them in that position.

If you can get Wilko past the cliched sportsperson responses he comes across as a much better individual. I wish the club would just let him speak freely in this column or drop the whole idea.

On the other hand, if Wilko thinks this past season has been exhaustive, then he clearly isn't the type of person to become a fulltime professional player.

Others have touched on the length of seasons in other comps. so I don't need to go there, but I would remind Wilko that most other professions go all year round with only 4 - 6 weeks for holidays.

A lot of people working very hard in construction and demolition for example, would put in similar physical efforts to him, but only get the 4 weeks off give or take time off for poor weather or lack of work. It's the real world Wilko, so get used to it or find a desk job if the physical effort is too much on you.

Re Wilko's comments: The spin is indicative of all sports codes. Some of the oft repeated are ..

1. We will learn from this.

2. It's a steep learning curve.

3. We'll put this behind us and become a much better team.

4. All credit to the other team, they were a better team on the night.

Bahhhh, humbug. As someone else said, say what you really think Wilko. This spin is getting tiresome. Anyone else who has a favourite mealy mouth quote, you are welcome to add it to the list.

The main reason I never read this kind of shit from sportspeople is that none of them ever say what they really think or its ghost written, cliched rubbish.

Ljubo would be an exception (if any newspaper was game enough to print his thoughts)... now that's one column I would definitely read  :vhappy: ... Dynamite

LOL. If Ljubo was given a column it would end up sounding something like the Kerouac book "On The Road"...  and possibly have to submit subtitles and legal disclaimers.

Suggested Ljubo column titles: "Get Ljubed", "From within the straight jacket", "Out of the Closet", "Pinging from everywhere", "Active & Versatile",  " Top and Bottom".  ;D

Wilko isn't our captain. He just wears the armband. We don't have a captain...maybe that's why we're so aimless on the field.

That is correct. If we were to say sack hutcho, we would have to pay him the remainder of his wages, and those wages would come out of the salary cap. I think if they have 2 seasons left it comes out of both the next 2 seasons caps.

Only option would be mutual termination, eg owens at adelaide

I think people are being a bit tough on Wilko.  He doesn't write that drivel.  However I wouldn't put my name to it having said that.
