Socceroo superstar keen to end career in A-League
SOCCEROO star Brett Emerton loves the lifestyle on the Central Coast and wouldnt say no to playing with the Mariners in the A-League when his career in Europe ends.
Emerton has been on the coast this week working with Socceroo physiotherapist Phil Coles at Hills St Sports Medicine Centre, Gosford.
Emerton suffered a serious knee injury playing for Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League and had a knee reconstruction on February 18.
He is training up to five hours a day in a bid to be ready for the start of next seasons Premier League in August. He is also desperate to get back into Pim Verbeeks Socceroos squad ahead of the 2010 World Cup.
Coles, who is from the coast and spent two years working at Hills St Sports Medicine Centre, felt a change of scenery would help Emertons recovery.
Its frustrating not to be able to play but I love the lifestyle on the coast, its been nice to be able to do my work and then go for a walk on the beach and relax, said Emerton.
Emerton, who hopes to be stronger then ever when he returns to the field for Blackburn, has taken a keen interest in the A-League.
It definitely interests me, Id love to play in it one day, he said.
