we will kill them we are so physical in comparison with the orange.

not compared to their backline - moore, mcloughin, seo and packer when fit

add tiatto and miller in the mix and you are dreaming

Agreed. Seo is a machine with ridiculous fitness. Tiatto is an enforcer and we know from last year not afraid to throw punches (and a premiership into the toilet).

For some reason really looking forward to this one, even more than last week's game, maybe because it's time for "the big fella" Matty S to bag a couple goalskis.

Bosnich headlines all-star inclusions for Roar test

Qantas Socceroo icon and Australian sporting legend Mark Bosnich is in line
to make his first top-flight domestic football appearance for nearly seven
years on Sunday, when the Central Coast Mariners take on the Queensland
Roar.

Bosnich, who last week penned a seven-round guest player stint with the
Mariners, is competing with Qantas Young Socceroos goalkeeper Andrew
Redmayne for a starting place, with incumbent shot stopper Danny Vukovic
commencing a five-match suspension.

Should Bosnich take to the pitch against the Roar, he will be making his
first top-flight domestic football appearance since starting for Chelsea
away to Everton in Round 12 of the 2001/02 English Premier League season.

Joining Bosnich in the Mariners starting eleven calculations is Qantas
Socceroo Mile Jedinak, who has been sorely missed by the yellow and navy for
much of the past two months with a groin injury.

Jedinak has trained fully throughout the week alongside fellow Australian
youth international Dylan Macallister, who has shaken off a rib concern to
bolster the Mariners frontline options that also include Nik Mrdja, Sasho
Petrovski and Matt Simon.

Combined, Bosnich, Jedinak and Macallister offer the Mariners three top
quality options that have immeasurably boosted the Mariners bid for their
breakthrough win of season four.

"Considering the squad that weve had for both of our opening games, with a
wee bit of luck we could have won both games and could be sitting top of the
Hyundai A-League," said Mariners Football Manager Lawrie McKinna.

"There have been a lot of positives to come out of both games, Pedj Bojic
has been outstanding, Boogaard is back now, Matt Simon is back and doing
well, Petrovski is doing well and Caceres and Elrich are getting better with
every game.

"It looks like Jedinak and Macallister will be up for selection on Sunday,
as we said in the first week of the season, itll take us about two or three
weeks for our squad to get bigger, which puts more pressure on players to
perform, which is what its all about."

The Mariners will go up against one of their bogey teams at Suncorp Stadium
on Sunday, with the Roar responsible for one of the Mariners more
unenviable Hyundai A-League records.

After an amazing two-year monopoly of draws between the two sides, which saw
a record streak of five consecutive Hyundai A-League stalemates from October
2005 until December 2006, the most recent history between the Mariners and
the Roar has favoured the latter, who have won three of the past four
Hyundai A-League encounters between the two sides.

In nine Hyundai A-League match ups, the Mariners have defeated the Roar on
only one occasion, that being at the venue for Sundays match Suncorp
Stadium, in September of last year.

In all competitions, the Mariners have claimed three wins in total against
the Roar and suffered four defeats, with seven fixtures ending all square.

The Mariners have scored 17 goals in response to the Roars 18, with
Mariners midfielder Matthew Osman the only current Mariners squad member
eligible for selection for Sundays match to have contributed to the
aforementioned tally in the Hyundai A-League.

"You cant leave your run in the Hyundai A-League for too long, weve got a
full year to plan for with the AFC Champions League to come and its very
important that we start getting results," said McKinna.

"Going to Queensland this weekend will be very hard, we saw at the weekend
that they totally dominated Adelaide and theyre very hard to play against
at Suncorp Stadium.

"Weve had a few good results up there and hopefully well continue that."

Central Coast Mariners Squad

4. Pedj Bojic, 5. Bradley Porter, 6. David DApuzzo, 7. John Hutchinson, 9.
Nik Mrdja, 10. Adrian Caceres, 11. Dylan Macallister, 13. Paul OGrady, 15.
Andrew Clark, 16. Nigel Boogaard, 17. Matthew Osman, 18. Alex Wilkinson, 19.
Matt Simon, 21. Ahmad Elrich, 22. Sasho Petrovski, 23. Mile Jedinak, 30.
Andrew Redmayne (gk), 40. Mark Bosnich (gk) *three to be omitted

The Mariners Hyundai A-League 2008/09 campaign continues at Brisbanes
Suncorp Stadium this Sunday, 31 August, when the Mariners face the
Queensland Roar. Kick off is at 5pm.

The Mariners are next at their Bluetongue Stadium home on Saturday, 20
September, when they host season two Champions and Premiers the Melbourne
Victory in Round 5. Kick off is at 7pm.

Clark, O'grady and D'Appuzo would be omitted?
Cant see him omitting Any strikers...and Porter will be relegated to bench (but surely stay on bench not kicked out of squad).

Cant see us omitting D'Appuzzo. hopefully Lawrie realises after last week that we need a natural left sided player in defense. I reckon the omissions are saved for Jedi and Macca who still may have some fitness concerns

Oh I would like to have D'Apuzzo on bench but I was just trying to think who McKinna would omit!
I would play
              Bozza
Osman    Boogs      Wilko  Bojic
              Jedi
Elrich      Hutch                Caceres
              Petrovski
              Macca
Bench: Redmayne (gk), D'Apuzzo, Simon, Mrdja
Omit: Clark, Stringers, Porter...
Macca should be back for sure- but I dunno bout Jedi- got a bad feeling about it...if Jedi Cant play bring porter to bench, Bojic to DM and D'Apuzzo to LB!

The way i see it the Mariners will line up this way.

                Bosnich
Clarke Wilko  Boogs  Bojic
              Jedinak
Elrich          Hutch  Caceres
          Dylan Sasho

Bench Redders, Osman, Porter, Simon.

At the moment Nik is McKinnas 4th striker and with concerns over Mile playing 90mins he needs to have an extra midfielder on the bench. Osman to cover def, Porter mids and Matt the strikers.

Be interesting to see how Qld line up because our central defenders are slow so maybe they will play 4-1-4-1 with Reinaldo playing in behind Van Djik and Zullo and Minnecon pushing up on our wingers to keep them back.

but worst comes to worse...Osman can double as backs and mids cover!
I highly doubt McKinna will drop Mrdja and he defiantely wont drop Simon...ver often last season with no defenders on bench...

I agree with this but is there any real benefit in having 4 strikers. I know a lot will disagree but i'd omit Simon, Stringers and Osman. But don't think it would happen especially Simon after all he has scored a goal now and played in the olympics. Probably wrong but did he have a shot on goal last week against the Bling?

I would not start big dyl. matty is on a high, un-injured, start him.

Having said that, mckinna will only make subs afer the 70th minute, not long enought for a big fella like dyl to get into the grove, so he will probably have to start.
