ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Will you back MC to the end?

It seems we're very split on this subject, which isn't s good thing. I was curious to know; are you going to back Charlesworth until the end, or will you walk away now?

The main purpose of this thread is to show whether or not we will back MC and his decisions until the end. I'm behind him and feel that we're going to turn a corner, but my optimism is wearing thin.

Kind of hard to answer, If his current strategy remains unchanged from the previous 10 years, no.

If he acknowledges that he needs to do something different... Yes ofcourse I'll back him.

He did tho. Then slyly tried to move us to North Sydney, and got us Bolt. You can name any number of still born ideas he's had.
None of which really engaged with the coast community.

For one, he hasn't shown the leadership to take us out of austerity. CoE was supposed to do that - but it's fallen flat. So, the leadership isn't there.
Now, we keep hearing about all this money he's losing each season - well, that's on him to have run the figures on what would be required to keep us competitive, and he SHOULD have had some idea of what those losses would be. He chose to back a football team with that information - he made that choice. What he hasn't don't is made a choice that allows us to be competitive.

If he loses $1mil per season, but we need $1.5mil to be competitive, then I have no sympathy for the money he's losing - invest more, find more backing, or sell at a reasonable price. Those are the 3 options.

It's getting harder and harder to be grateful for him 'saving' the club all those years ago when all that's happened is the dying process took a lot longer.

If something you love dies suddenly, you grieve mightily for a short period, then you start to heal. If the dying process is extended say for 5 to 6 years, you mourn for all of that time before you can start to heal.

Who voted yes, and why?
I did. I think it's that optimism that something will change, but really it's wearing thin.

My father is a foundation member and I went to games with him from a very young age, so this club means just as much to me as it does to the rest of us. I just don't want to see it all burn down in flames because nobody has any confidence in Mike. If we're going to change for the better, as unfortunate as it is, it's going to be under Mike, Anton and Shaun. The three amigos are the only guys that can save this. I just do not see anybody else putting in investment in fear they won't get it back.

I so badly want this club to return to its former glory, and for us to do that we need to back Mike and everything he does. It's merely a gut feeling, but I really do believe we are going to turn the corner. But we need guys like Anton to cut the crap and start talking facts otherwise we're going nowhere fast.

They're genuine people. I have good faith we will see a brighter light. Even if it means in a couple of years we'll look at these guys in shame, at least we'll remember they tried. But if the fans have no optimism in a brighter future (and yes, I know it's long overdue), it won't happen.

As silly as it sounds, I'll back these guys to the end. I have faith. Even if it means I walk alone.

I voted yes not because I have or feel any real connection with MC, I’ve never met him and struggle to understand why you might own a football club on the other side of the globe and show very little interest (at least publicly) by failing to attend any games (why not spend at least a few weeks here in person enjoying the lifestyle and taking an active on the ground interest in the club?).

Notwithstanding the above, without MC CCM may well not exist or we might be a distant memory as the former location of the “Canberra Mariners” (or whatever). Whatever the club’s position, my love of CCM is a reflection of my love of the coast and, if CCM fails, we will be very unlikely to ever get a pro sports team on the coast again. That would be dreadful and something I would have great difficulty accepting. MC is not perfect, far from it, however, he owns the club, saved it from extinction and deserves some level of respect. That said, he also needs to listen to our concerns and show us what he is doing to make things right.

If true fans want to help the club then encourage everyone you know to come to a game and get behind the club in every way you can. Buy a jersey (from the club), support sponsors and work collectively to assist pulling the club out of its current predicament. What do you all think?

As an aside, on Sunday after the game, I took my eldest son (11) and mother (grandma) down to the fence to get the boy’s ball signed. All of the players were friendly and happy to chat and sign the ball. A special word for Ziggy, however, when he stopped in front of my 80 years old mum and she said “we come every week and will always support you” to which Ziggy took her hand and with great sincerity said “thank you ma’am, that means the world to us”. I suggest we find 10 more Ziggy’s (no easy task) who truly care and, as fans and the team we all work together to help get this club back on track.

I disagree that any change for the better will be under the "three amigos" as you call them. They all play very different roles at present and will in any future that the Club may have if any of them are still here. Their futuress will not necessarily be linked.

I really sometimes have difficulty trying to understand where you are coming from in many of your posts. You are a prolific but very recent poster and it is unusual to see someone who is a new poster initiating threads, especially meaningless polls.

You claim foundation membership of the Club but in one of your early posts from a couple of months ago you posted while asking for career advice:

"I'm still studying, (I'm in my final 2 years of HS),"

To be a foundation member you must have been ridiculously young when you first signed up for membership.

Curious.

Sorry. I correct myself

My father is a foundation member. I basically supported the club because he did. That's where I grew up, so I grew into the culture.

I admit that I shouldn't have called myself a foundation member.

At the moment I'm just desperate to see it stay afloat.

To some this poll may seem meaningless but I really just wanted to see some numbers on who was behind him and who wasn't. I won't make another.

Edit - I'm going to do myself a favour and log out of the site until the start of next season as I don't want to say anything else I might regret.

Charlesworth has killed the club through his lack of investment and gross mismanagement.
If he stays it dies. Just more slowly.
Go now

I think starting threads and posting meaningless polls is great. If you don't like it you don't have to vote.

It’s not meaningless and your post is perhaps a touch patronising, AM. I’m loath to challenge a well informed, intelligent and passionate fan as yourself but why shouldn’t one query how we feel about MC? There’s certainly no harm in doing so if people answer respectfully and if you don’t think it necessary/appropriate, then the obvious option is don’t respond...

You can’t separate him and the club at the moment so you’re either supporting him and the club or you’re not.

As it is plenty of people have said enough is enough and that’s only going to increase until there’s a handful left, so the question is what’s going to change and only MC can answer that. Is he all in on the management rights or bust? Is there a plan B.

How long can the club last if nothing changes?

The ship is sinking and the man that has told us not to worry about the rising water is meant to be followed?

I don't believe things will be changing but I will still support and attend when I can because that's what we do. But I don't have faith.

If people are going to go to blows about this please remove it. I don't want the site to turn into a warzone.
