ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners Centre of Excellence is GO!

Off- topic but that Bunnings next door is enormous!

But in all seriousness, what is happening with the hotel up there? I haven't kept up with much COE news for the last 2 years but it is certainly coming along nicely.

I guess so but you would think (or at least hope) we would have the most visitors of the tenants. Do we have a merch shop there?
I don't reckon a merch store would be worth the effort - rent, staffing, stock costs etc., and there simply wouldn't be enough foot traffic to make it worthwhile.

Progress is nice, but to inject a sense of perspective, the first post in this thread was in 2008!

Shaun posted this in the "CCM Fans and the club thread":
In regards to the next steps we are in the process of revisiting the master plan to ensure this are still on track and the main component that needs to be address is the traffic management on Wyong road, once this is completed it will pave the way for the next stages to get happening really quickly.

From that I assume that council and/or RMS have some concerns that need to be worked through.

No Merch shop yet. I agree this would be better suited on the ground floor but it's not like it's busy enough to warrant the need to take the prime real estate.
Definately, they picked the offices, for the view. Magic view from up there.
There is a Medical Centre on the ground floor.

Nothing has been done in relation to the Gym over the last 2 months.
I`ve got to agree the view from the Mariner`s office is fantastic.
It looks out over the training ground & towards the main pitch.
I`ve seen somewhere that there are more pitches going in over the back with access from the other side.(not sure where I saw that)

Nothing has happened here for 6 months.
The Gym was supossed to be built next but if i was MC i would be building the Leagues style club next, filling it with Pokies and use the revenue stream to fund the next stages.

Assuming he has/can get a license for it... who's to say it'll work. Club Tuggerah wasn't what you'd call a money spinner on the same site.

Wouldn't it be better if we don't fund ourselves out of the pockets of people who like flashing lights and can't do maths?

They are going to play anyway so why not play with us.

What I'd like is maybe a stricker gambling rules than none at all.

E.g. 1 and 2 cents machines only or time limits or daily limits. Pokies can be a bit of fun if you have self control but they can be the devil for those that can't.

If you could make money without pokies every one would be doing it

Agreed with "it would be better if we don't fund ourselves out of the pockets of people who like flashing lights and can't do maths..." but also there is a lot of money in it. If you look at the books of an AFL club you will see a massive chunk of their revenue comes from the AFL first in handouts, then sponsorships, memberships, and club/gaming.

I'd rather they (the government) just ban the things completely but that's unlikely.

Agree entirely. I'm absolutely fine with people having a bit of fun; I'm definitely not a prohibitionist. I'm for harm minimisation.

If you put in maximum bet limits per spin and mandatory pre-commitment then I'm basically happy.

I think we can make money without pokies - Souths Rabbitohs ditched theirs years ago and they're going OK.

Probably helped that Russell Crowe bought the club... gonna suggest his net worth is slightly higher than Mike's.

Have u been there Dibo? Do you know if it's a pokie free place now?
Have been there once for a function and I think that was before the pokies decision. It seems the Leagues club is actually closed now and they're going to be redeveloped.

Where is the cash coming from? Sam Burgess ain't cheap.
Broadcast distributions, sponsorships, gate receipts, corporate hospitality, etc. Like any other professional sporting club.

When I was reading this yesterday I thought they still had pokies at Souths, but couldn't be bothered to look it up.
One of the few places not to have them is Petersham Bowlo, which was featured on an ABC article the other day.
