Good squad. Some interesting considerations over the course of this qualifying campaign.
- Milligan: Will his UAE move put his future spot in doubt?
- Vital moves coming up for Oar, Juric, Davidson, Burns and Franjic.

Very happy to see All the mariners boys in there, I'm really hoping that Olly can keep developing and become a solid member of this team.

Even though we got the win I thought we looked poor against Kyrgyzstan.
Rubbish pitch didn't help.
We were pretty bad though I don't think the pitch should have of been an issue. We could have trained on rougher pitches in Bishkek but instead chose to train on snooker table like pitches in Dubai which I think really hurt us. Number 22 Anton Zemlianukhin looked pretty good and is playing in Serbia which doesn't pay very well. Could be a decent visa pickup?

To be fair, would you like to give a penalty in that atmosphere? Probably would've been lynched outside the ground if he had.
Crowd didn't seem particularly hostile to me tbh.
Anyway, if a ref can't make tough calls what's he doing with FIFA accreditation? Should go back to kids football.

Actually that's probably worse...some parents...

We apperently have a friendly against Egypt (away) on tue 13 October no further details yet

Seems a tad bit early for the Canberra qualifier against Kyrgyzstan which is 4 weeks later on the 12th NOV ???

Fortnight beforehand would be more advantageous.

Mooy was superb for the Socceroo's tonite, easily MOMatch.

This WILL be his last season in the A-League. Should be playing OS right NOW!

Meredith at LB was a real surprise, outstanding debut. Would rather see him again in the next game than Davidson.

Agree on Meredith. Rogic looked good when he came on.
Luongo is a bit flat though.

Should have scored more, bad shooting and a good game for their goalie. (helps when most shots go straight at you though).

Yeah Luongo looked short a yard for not getting 1st team football at present. Mile was f**king awesome though. Timmy also. Liked the diamond. Didn't miss Leckie's donkey touch in the slightest.

I thought that was a great performance. Coulda/shoulda been 8 zip.

Luongo chose to sign for a long ball, shit side destined for league 1

Being at the bitters will kill his career progression. Should have waited for a club with a football philosophy he would be better.

FFA announces details of selection process and timing for new Caltex Socceroos Head Coach
Former Caltex Socceroos Marco Bresciano, Stan Lazaridis and Mark Schwarzer are among a panel of experts who will advise Football Federation Australia (FFA) on the appointment of a new Head Coach for the Caltex Socceroos that will be contesting the FIFA World Cup in Russia next year.

Lazaridis is also an external member of the FFA Board’s Football Development Committee.

FFA chief executive David Gallop said the trio, who have 253 international caps between them and all represented Australia at the FIFA World Cup, will be working with FFA’s Head of National Performance, Luke Casserly, Caltex Socceroos Assistant Coach Ante Milicic (both of whom are also former Socceroos), FFA’s National Technical Director Eric Abrams and FFA’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mark Jones. The appointment of two international experts is expected to be finalised in the near future.

FFA has also appointed leading international search and consulting firm SRi Executive to facilitate the process.

SRi’s Sydney-based Managing Partner ANZ, Jonathan Harris, will manage the process in cooperation with SRi’s Global Football Elite & High Performance team, who are based across four continents.

The advisory panel and SRi are working with FFA on the criteria for selecting the new coach and will be involved in initial interviews.

FFA will make the final decision with an appointment to be made by mid-February next year which will give the successful candidate more than a month to prepare before the Caltex Socceroos anticipated next games in March.

“As you would expect, we have had a high level of interest already,” said Mr Gallop.

“As things stand, no-one is ruled in or out. We are open minded about whether the coach is Australian or someone from overseas but they must live in Australia, embrace the progress on and off the field that has been achieved with national teams over the past four years – especially in the areas of technical development and sports science - and be prepared to be an ambassador for our sport here and abroad.

“FFA’s starting point is to appoint a coach for the long term but we will be advised on this and other matters by our expert panel.

“We are confident that we will attract the right person to lead the Caltex Socceroos at the FIFA World Cup and hopefully beyond.”
